IRIS CERTIFICATION

SHOW YOUR VALUE AS A QUALITY SUPPLIER IN THE INTERNATIONAL RAILWAY INDUSTRY

With increasing competition and transport, especially within the EU, the railways have become more demanding of a transport system that is "ready" and that can meet many laws and requirements from different countries. Parallel to this, operators expect suppliers throughout the chain to remain competitive and to be able to deliver smart, qualitative and functional solutions for locomotives, wagons and equipment. IRIS can be applied to suppliers in the railway industry (such as manufacturers of equipment or individual components) and operators as well as manufacturers of railway vehicles.

What is IRIS certification?
IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) is an initiative led by the Union of the European Railway Industries (UNIFE) and supported and instigated by four of the largest system suppliers (Bombardier, Siemens, Alstom and AnsaldoBreda). IRIS is a complementary extension of ISO 9001, specific to the rail industry, and developed for assessment of management systems with a focus on project management and construction. The underlying goal of IRIS is to improve the quality and reliability of rolling stock by improving the entire supply chain. It does this by setting common requirements for everyone.

Does IRIS replace individual assessments?
An IRIS certification will replace the assessments you have today, at least those produced by the four founders of the initiative (Alstom Transport, AnsaldoBreda, Siemens Transportation and Bombardier Transportation).
